The History of Zelda Hunting Safaris
This beautiful hunting game reserve was once a humble cattle farm that mainly exported to South Africa, Under the mantle of Beon’s Father, In the late 1980’s the Family started a small game reserve, and in 1992 Beon van Niekerk, took over the Cattle farm and Small game reserve from his Father and as time passed the game reserve grew bigger, 1998 Beon qualified as a professional hunting guide, He then only focused on Wildlife and hunting. cattle farming was sat aside to grow the hunting reserve even bigger, Just as Beon Grew up on the family farm his 3 sons would also grow up in the hunting and wildlife environment and as the fourth generation of the van Niekerk family , young Danie, Beon and Henco grew up with the same passion as their father, Shortly after finishing school all 3 sons stepped into their professional hunting careers alongside their Father Beon van Niekerk. Together the Father and Sons duo aim to give each and every trophy hunter an unforgettable adventure and an authentic safari on Zelda Hunting Safaris

Our experienced Professional hunters have a passion for hunting and will ensure that you have an exclusive hunting trip.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Once you land at the airport, one of our Professional Hunting guides will be waiting to pick you up and transport you to Zelda Hunting safaris that is 250 kilometers from the airport and takes about two, to two a half hours. At arriving on Zelda Hunting Safaris you will be welcomed at the lodge and meet the people that will make sure that you enjoy peace of mind and take care of your everyday needs. On the first day you will get the opportunity to shoot in your rifle at the shooting range.
A TYPICAL HUNTING DAY
After a good night rest, we will wake you up at about 5:30 – 6:00. Wake up depends on the time the sun rises. A hearty breakfast and coffee will be served and the plans for the day will be discussed. Your well-equipped 4×4 hunting vehicle will be waiting for you and you will drive off with the sun rising over the savanna bushveld surroundings. Cool boxes containing water and other refreshments will be on each vehicle for your needs and enjoyment. We will drive around until game or signs of game, is spotted. Once any of these two is spotted, you and your PH will get off the car and you will continue the stalk by foot.
Stalk take place according to the fitness level of the hunter and the hunter’s preference. Your PH will inform you if the animal is of trophy Quality and when you are in a shooting position. Your PH will bring you between 80 and 200 yards from your trophy. He will put out shooting sticks ( a rest for your rifle in order to ensure a stable position for you to shoot from) when you are in position to shoot, the PH will move in behind you and assist you in finding your trophy. Once you notify your PH that the animal is in sight, you will get clear directions when to take the shot. If you had a successful shot and the PH is confident that the animal is dead, you will move to your trophy. The animal will be set up and photographs will be taken. After photographs, the hunting vehicle will pick you Up and the trophy animal will be loaded on the vehicle. If however the animal was wounded, your PH will do his utmost best in tracking and locating the animal as soon as possible. Upon returning at the lodge, the animal will be offloaded and skinned by the professional skinning team according to your instructions. All your trophies will be tagged and transported to the taxidermy free of cost after the hunt.
HUNTING METHODS & RIFLES
We are situated in the Eastern part of Namibia, 300 kilometers from Windhoek and 30 kilometers from the Botswana border. Zelda Hunting is a private owned game reserve with prime savanna bushveld surroundings and is home of 30 species of game of the finest trophy quality. The hunting area is 15 000 hectares, but we also make use of other areas other than our private owned game reserve. Some of the game are free ranging, but we also have large closed areas where a larger variety of game can be hunted.
Hunting season is from 1 February to 30 November.
We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level. We believe in fair-chasse methods, to give each hunter the true African experience and each animal a fair chance. The shooting of selected animals and mostly male species is done. As our hunts are spot-and-stalk safaris, some hunts can require extensive walking, while others require very little.
We encourage our hunters to bring their own rifles which you are most comfortable with. We do have a selection of rifles in different calibers that are available for rental by day. Good shot placement is more important than rifle power. We most strongly recommend a rifle well suited for African antelope such as .300 Winchester Magnum, 338, 30 – 06 or similar caliber rifles. We obtain all our hunter, hunting permits before arrival.
